On Sunday, October 27, 2019, Dr. Montaser Al-Asmar from the Faculty of Islamic Law at An-Najah National University gave a lecture on the importance of reading in personal development and character building. The lecture was given to Al-Hajjah Rashda Secondary Girls School's 11th grade students.

Dr. Al-Asmar urged the school to take measures to promote book reading and book-loving culture among school students. He urged students to read more books to boost their knowledge, and he pointed out that books are good trainers and nobody could deny their importance. He added that reading is the most important tool in character building and parents, schools, colleges and universities should play their role in promoting the reading habit among students.

Dr. Al-Asmar pointed out that reading has a significant number of benefits especially for school students, including mental stimulation, stress reduction, knowledge, vocabulary expansion, memory improvement, stronger analytical thinking skills, improved focus and concentration, and free entertainment.

He also underlined the role of reading in helping students in managing their time during finals. The lecture was concluded with open discussion about the role of reading in character building.
