The faculty of Shari'ah is one of the pioneer faculties at An-Najah National University. It was founded in 1980. The faculty aims to teach its students the Islamic laws derived from the Quran and the Hadith to produce competent graduates who can bear the great responsibility of communicating God's message.
 Allah says" Indeed, we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant."-Al-Ahzab (72)
The Faculty of Islamic Law also aspires to implant the spiritual and cultural Islamic values and morals derived from the religious precepts of Islam, particularly the Quran and the Hadith through offering compulsory courses on Islam given by qualified teachers for all university students.
The Faculty comprises three departments: Jurisprudence, and the Fundamentals of Religion which both offer bachelor and master degrees. In Addition, there's Shari'ah and Islamic Banks Department which was founded in 2006. This department was established to supply the labour market with well-qualified graduates that can deal with issues and challenges faced by Islamic banks.
The faculty also holds several workshops and conferences to discuss issues and problems that encounter fthe majority of communities and offer Islamic solutions. Also, it publishes research papers on different topics related to Islamic education.
An-Najah National University has always been a beacon of excellence and innovation. It is among the top universities in the Arab World according to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. An-Najah aims at providing its students with academic programmes of high quality and promoting intercultural dialogue and scientific research.
