" In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful "

Praise be to Allah and peace be upon His Messenger Muhammad, and peace be upon His Messenger’s companions:

Having said so,

The Faculty of Shari'ah is one of the pioneering faculties of An-Najah National University. It was founded in 1980. The faculty aims at teaching its students the Islamic laws derived from the Holy Quran and the Honorable Hadith to produce competent graduates who are able to bear the great responsibility of communicating Allah’s Message.

Allah says: “Truly, We did offer Al‑Amānah (the trust or moral responsibility or honesty and all the duties which Allah has ordained) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and were afraid of it (i.e. afraid of Allah’s Torment). But man bore it. Verily, he was unjust (to himself) and ignorant (of its results).” Al-Ahzab: 72

The Faculty of Shari’ah also aspires to implant the spiritual and cultural Islamic values and morals in the university students; such morals and values are derived from the main religious sources of Islam, particularly the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah; such a goal can be achieved by offering compulsory courses on Islam given by well-qualified instructors for all university students following a moderate approach which is far away from extremes or exaggeration.

The Faculty comprises three main departments: Jurisprudence and Legislation, the Fundamentals of Religion, and the Islamic Banking which all offer bachelor’s as well as master’s degrees. The third department was founded in 2006. This department was established to supply the labour market with well-qualified graduates who can deal with issues and challenges faced by Islamic banks.

In addition, the Faculty of Shari’ah offers another master program which is Islamic Intellect and Comparative religions. distinguishing specification of this program is that all students from different backgrounds can join it and pursue their studies to get the master’s degree. Furthermore, the faculty offers two doctorate programs; one from the department of Jurisprudence and Legislation, and it is a joint doctorate program. The other one is from the department of the Fundamentals of Religion.
faculty also holds several workshops and conferences to discuss contemporary issues and problems that encounter the majorities in a community to offer Islamic solutions. Also, it publishes research papers on different topics related to Islamic education.
An-Najah National University has always been a minaret of excellence and innovation. It is amongst the top universities in the Arab World according to Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. An-Najah aims at providing its students with academic programs of high quality and promoting intercultural dialogue and scientific research.

All Thanks and Praise are to Allah.
